Below are samples of student work from a course I teach called Advanced 3D for games. The course focuses on preparing Game Art students for the Senior Capstone experience. Students complete small scope technical assignments in Unity3D that cover topics like importing assets, material creation, visual effects, animation, scripting, light-mapping and physics. In addition to these assignments, students work in teams to create “beauty levels” that demonstrate their facility with content creation and production while giving them a place to generate pieces for their portfolio. While working on team projects, it is important for each team to define a specific art style and implement it. Adherence to an art style is the most challenging part for students.
